About
River Wolfe
I began beading over 25 years ago when I was in recovery from a serious hiking accident which left me paralyzed and in a wheelchair. During that time, I honed my skills by making gifts for friends and family while earning an undergraduate degree in English and Art Education and subsequent graduate degree in Counseling. After spending 10 years as a professional couselor, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I firmly believe there are no mistakes and that while my diagnosis was emotionally difficult, it led me back to my love of making beads and designing necklaces, earrings and bracelets with my handmade beads. I retired from my full-time job as a counselor and embarked upon a journey that is the love of my life. It's true what they say about working for yourself, it's the hardest work you will ever do, but it doesn't feel like work at all.
My art jewelry is born from my desire to explore the medium of polymer clay, wire, beads, etching, silkscreen and other techniques. My favorite work involves using stones, fossils, tree bark and deep earth born colors to create something out of the ordinary and beautiful. Much like I've reinvented myself and my career, I love to reinvent the ancient into something modern.
